As always, we look to the future; the ultimate future when Jesus will return in glory for the final judgment. The Church calls this Sunday, the Feast of Christ the King, a feast on which we celebrate God’s Kingdom.
We, God’s people, are loved and mercifully cherished. Each one of us has heard God’s call to repentance, and been mercifully forgiven, and embraced by the Good Shepherd.Having accepted God’s loving embrace, we recognize our faults, our failings, our sinfulness, and are confident that God loves us and forgives us.
As God’s people we also recognize that God expects us to open our hearts to God’s merciful and loving ways. This Feast of Christ the King is a reminder to each of us that we, too, are called to return God’s love by loving our neighbor, as ourselves.
This is what God expects of us, and this is how Jesus will judge us.
2 FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
Next Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent
Our theme this year will be “The Lord is Near.” Books will be available in the gathering space this week.We ask that you take an Advent book home and start using it Nov. 30.
There are also Advent books for children and we encourage you to read the book with your children and make the projects a family activity. You will also find a magnet to place in your home as a reminder to keep Christ in Advent and this Christmas season.
3 ANGEL TREE
The Angel Tree will be in the Gathering Space starting Nov 28 & 29.
New This Year - - - The Committee would like the donation of stocking stuffers for the bags. Remember that the children we serve are always in need of the basics of life. Suggestions for stuffers would be: Tooth brush, shampoo, brush, comb, body spray, deodorant, school supplies, socks, gloves, underwear, hats, candy. These items are just added to the bags before distribution to the schools.
If you are unable to shop, monetary donations will be accepted, & the committee will do the shopping for you. You may drop the donation in the collection or leave it at the office and mark it “Angel Tree”.
Names will be on the tree after Thanksgiving.
