April 30, 2010: The Vatican has given approval to the proposed U.S. version of the new edition of the Roman Missal to be used at all Masses. A series of adaptations and proper texts for the U.S. dioceses was also approved. Pope Benedict XVI expressed his hope that the change in translation will serve “as a springboard for a renewal and a deepening of Eucharistic devotion all over the English-speaking world.” It now falls to the U.S. Bishops to decide when to implement the new translation in parishes.
